Chinese New Year Celebrations at Devonshire Square

17th February 2026

On Tuesday, 17th February, at 1pm,  DSQ will celebrate Lunar New Year with an authentic Lion Dance performance in its historic Courtyard, presented by the internationally renowned Guan Yin Northern Lion Dancers.

The troupe has been featured multiple times on BBC and ITV and has played a central role in London Chinatown’s Chinese New Year parades and Mooncake Festival for over two decades.

The Lion Dance is a traditional Chinese ritual with origins dating back thousands of years.

It is believed to bring good luck, prosperity and success, while driving away evil spirits on auspicious occasions, making it a powerful and joyful way to welcome the Lunar New Year.

Alongside this vibrant performance, attendees can enjoy a curated gastronomic experience, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Guests will be treated to a complimentary tasting of festive oriental delicacies, both savoury and sweet.

Savoury highlights include:

Those with a sweet tooth will be able to enjoy the heavenly wheelcake, a moist and fluffy Taiwanese pancake with creamy fillings, served in a variety of flavours, including adzuki bean, chocolate, matcha and vanilla custard.

The wheelcakes will be freshly prepared by the skilled confectioners from local pastry shop Wheelcake Island.

Their mouth-watering creations have earned praise from both national and international food critics, and have been featured on TV productions, including BBC Good Food, and national publications such as the Evening Standard and Time Out London.

The show is part of DSQ’s multicultural events programme and is FREE to attend.
