On Thursday 27th June, Devonshire Square will celebrate World Music Day by hosting in its atmospheric Western Courtyard ‘Dancing Petals & Violins’, an enthralling lunchtime show that combines beautiful live music with the captivating elegance of ballet.
From 12.30pm to 1pm, the Icon Strings Quartet – a collective of some of the top prize-winning chamber musicians and concert artists in London – will be delighting our community with an energetic and heartfelt music performance, presenting a repertoire that includes some of the most popular pop songs and classic pieces of all time.
From 1pm to 1.15pm, audiences can expect a sensory feast as they immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of an enchanting classical performance by a group of exceptionally talented ballerinas from renowned creative company Jlee Productions.
Presenting an original choreography created by award winning choreographer and former English National Ballet soloist Jenna Lee, the dancers – dressed in exquisite floral tutus – will perform to iconic tracks from Vivaldi and Lakmé, taking the audience on a visual journey through the seasons of blossoms and sunshine.
From 1.15pm to 1.45pm, the Icon Strings will return to the stage to deliver an uplifting prelude to the Dancing Petals final show, promising to celebrate World Music Day in an unforgettable way.
The performance is thematically linked to ‘Devonshire Square in Bloom’, an eco-friendly floral art installation that will bring a joyful splash of colour to the beautiful green spaces of the historical campus.
From 27th June until the end of August, a multitude of large flowers in bright summery shades will be ‘blooming’ along The Avenue and the balconies of DSQ7!
‘Dancing Petals & Violins’ is FREE to attend, however, registration by emailing the Devonshire Square Team on frontdesk@dsq.london is required, as availability is limited.
‘Devonshire Square in Bloom’ will be available to the public until 27th August, providing great photo opportunities throughout the summer months!
The performing art show and ‘Devonshire Square in Bloom’ mark the launch of Devonshire Square’s redeveloped DSQ7, newly landscaped courtyards and social spaces.
