Devonshire Square is proud to announce the installation of a commemorative totem in front of its main entrance on Cutler Street, honouring three City of London Police Officers who lost their lives while preventing a robbery at 119 Houndsditch in 1910.
The official unveiling ceremony will take place on Thursday, 25th July, from 4:15 PM to 5:15 PM.
This event will be attended by various representatives of the City of London Police, including Commissioner Pete O ’Doherty, Chief Superintendent Rob Atkin, Chief Inspector Nik Jethwa, and Police Constable Sadiq Murudker.
Both Commissioner Pete O ’Doherty and Ward Councillor Henry Jones will deliver public speeches, paying tribute to the fallen officers.
A highlight of the ceremony will be a moving performance by an ensemble of 12 musicians from The British Imperial Military Band.
The band will play The Last Post at 4:30 PM by the totem, followed by a minute of silence and The Rouse.
This solemn tribute will be a moment to reflect on the bravery and dedication of the officers.
After the minute of silence, the band will march back to the Western Courtyard for a final performance, concluding at 5:15 PM.
In addition to the musical tribute, welcome drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be available to all participants in the Western Courtyard, providing an opportunity for the community to come together and honour the memories of the faller Officers.
The event is open to the public, and everyone is warmly invited to join Devonshire Square and the City of London Police in commemorating Sgt. Robert Bentley, Sgt. Charles Tucker, and PC Walter C. Choat, whose courage and sense of duty will not be forgotten.
