On Wednesday, 4th December, from 1pm to 2pm, Devonshire Square will open its annual ‘Art for Love’ Winter Festival with a thrilling, high-energy Swing and Charleston dance show presented by SwinganceUK.com, one of the world’s longest-running, multi-award-winning swing dance companies.
The FREE-to-attend show will take place in Devonshire Square’s atmospheric Western Courtyard and will feature a team of exceptionally talented dancers from Swingtime Jivers, led by professional jitterbug Simon Selmon, one of the most experienced Lindy Hop dance teachers in the UK.
Simon has choreographed and performed for stage, film, and TV, appearing as the specialist expert in Dancing on Ice, The Apprentice, Strictly Come Dancing, The Paul O’Grady Show, and Foyle’s War, and has performed in some of the most prestigious venues both in the UK and abroad.
Simon Selmon and the Swingtime Jivers will showcase unforgettable Charleston and Swingtime routines, inviting attendees to join them on the dance floor!
To celebrate the festive event, attendees will be offered complimentary mulled wine and ginger toffee pudding, a delightful confectionary delicacy created for the occasion by Cinnamon Kitchen’s executive chef Raju Ramachandran, following celebrity chef Vivek Singh’s signature recipe, which combines the flavours of one of the best British classic puddings with the velvety notes of the Indian spices.
The event is free to attend, however, registration by emailing the Devonshire Square Team on frontdesk@dsq.london is required, as the complimentary desserts will be freshly baked on the day of the event for all registered attendees.
The Swing and Charleston Dance Show is part of Devonshire Square’s ‘Art for Love’ Winter Festival, a two-week programme of world-class artistic performances organized and curated by Devonshire Square’s Community and Events Management, with the aim of raising awareness and encouraging online donations in aid of The Connection, London’s busiest homeless charity, and the local charity Whitechapel Mission.
Participants are warmly encouraged to donate online via the charities’ official websites – The Connection and Whitechapel Mission – quoting Devonshire Square to show that they joined the appeal.
Alternatively, they can respond to Devonshire Square’s Giving Tree Appeal by donating a gift to those in need.
