'Black Music Legends' Exhibition and 'The Rhythm of Cuba' Live Music Show

10th AUG

On Thursday 10th August, from 5pm to 7pm, Devonshire Square will be hosting a FREE-to-attend multicultural evening of vibrant Afro-Cuban live music by talented Cuban band The Havana Beat, and a live painting experience by internationally renowned artists Nick Brown, who will be completing one of his masterpieces live on the evening.

The band will be performing in the DSQube Pop Up Art Studio, where the ‘Black Music Legends’ visual art exhibition – featuring Nick Brown’s stunning collection of portraits of some of the most influential black musicians of all time – will be on display until 25th August.

Presented by cultural art specialists Cole’s Art Gallery & Artist Management, Nick Brown creates highly detailed photo realistic portraits, and his exceptional talent has led to him painting commissioned portraits for a wide range of established actors, music artists, sports and media personalities, including Dave Chappelle, KSI and many others.

Nick studied graphic design at the London College of Communication and works in a vast range of mediums including spray paint, oil paint, pencil, ink, digital and silk screen printing, and has worked alongside brands like Nike, Evisu and PlayStation.

The exhibition also includes a collection of striking artworks by South-Asian artist Tonn Patchu, who has gained international recognition for his captivating oil on canvas creations, and Cuban artist Yacel Canalias, who draws inspiration from the richness of Caribbean culture and music to create visually engaging, soulful portraits and vibrant scenes that ooze rhythm and passion for life.

All artworks on display are original and available for purchase, with 10% of all proceeds going to support local homeless charity Whitechapel Mission.

The Havana Beat band is one of UK’s leading exponents of Cuban Soul, Salsa and Latin Music, fronted by extraordinary female vocalist Adriana, who has performed on the Havana music scene for over 10 years, working with Cuban music legends such as William Vicanco, Eliades Ochoa from Buena Vista Social Club, and NG La Banda.

All members of the Havana Beat Band have worked at the top end of the Latin music scenes in Cuba, Spain, Columbia and UK.

Attendees will also be treated to a complimentary tasting experience of delicious Mojitos, one of Cuba’s most famous cocktails, expertly prepared by Devonshire Terrace’s mixology artists.

The event is FREE to attend, however, registration via the dedicated Eventbrite page is strictly required, as availability is limited.  To book your FREE ticket, please click here. Alternatively, you can register your attendance by emailing the DSQ Team on frontdesk@dsq.london.
