On display from 30th October to 13th December at Devonshire Square’s creative studio, DSQube, PASSENGERS brings together international artists exploring ecology, transformation, migration, life’s transience, and collective responsibility.
Presented by Leo Babsky Curatorial and Parallel LDN, PASSENGERS expands upon notions of space and liminality that cross over into our interior lives. The arcades, tunnels, and passageways of the historic Devonshire Square Estate are reframed as living symbols that mirror the complexities of the human condition: our desire to cross boundaries and borders, transitioning between identities, histories, and interior states.
The artists posit the threshold not as a limit, but as a generative site, where transformation is possible and what was and what will be can meet. PASSENGERS examines the personal, geographical, material, and temporal ways the artists articulate the gateways through which we journey. We are all entities in motion, traversing architectures seen and unseen in the pursuit of connection and progression.
Resonating with Devonshire Square’s core ethos, the exhibition positions art as a catalyst for social and environmental impact, demonstrating the power of creativity aligned with ESG values.
Multidisciplinary artist Benjamin Knock’s research-led project, developed in partnership with Tokyo University’s Volcanology Department, combines scientific inquiry with indigenous knowledge, deepening our understanding of Earth’s geophysical systems and our responsibility to protect them.
Alicia Radage’s surreal “human flora” sculptures, inspired by DSQ’s gardens, challenge human dominance and emphasise biodiversity’s importance.
Photographer Patrizia Ilaria Sechi’s Melting Diamonds series captures the fragile beauty of Iceland’s glacial landscapes, photographed in extreme temperatures to document rapidly disappearing ecosystems.
Environmental awareness extends to materials, including multi-award-winning artist Jonathan Roson’s use of discarded materials to create thought-provoking artworks, and Benjamin Knock’s integration of geological samples collected from volcanic calderas.
Gonzalo Maggi explores the boundary between reality and fiction through carefully staged urban and architectural scenes, evoking subtle tension and uncanny stillness while revealing hidden layers within everyday environments.
Tobias Ross-Southall creates fluid, ghostlike ink forms that capture fragility and impermanence, inviting quiet reflection on presence, absence, and the transient nature of life.
Social and cultural themes are equally prominent at the exhibition. Artists Mau Samoya and Sabrina Tirvengadum explore memory, migration, and hidden histories, emphasising the importance of cultural visibility, while digital artist Ilaria Merola’s AI-generated works examine technology’s role in shaping equitable and inclusive futures.
PASSENGERS will also act as an introduction and foundation to ARCADE Art Fair, launching in summer 2026 at the same location.
The exhibition reinforces Devonshire Square’s commitment to sustainable and socially responsible programming. Twenty percent of all sales proceeds will be donated to UK-registered charities chosen by the artists, while a bespoke exhibition scent by NOSU, crafted from natural Mitti Attar and inspired by DSQ’s historical architecture, adds a sensory dimension.
The exhibition is open from Monday to Saturday, 11am to 7pm, with free entry. A finissage event will be held on 4th December from 5pm to 7pm, following a highly successful vernissage attended by over 200 guests. The finissage is free to attend, however, registration by emailing the DSQ team at frontdesk@dsq.london is required as availability is limited.
The PASSENGERS exhibition project demonstrates how creativity, community engagement, and sustainability converge, creating a space where art and ESG values intersect and where every threshold becomes an opportunity for transformation.
