Even though the Devonshire Square’s iconic Easter Tree, dedicated to the Honeypot Children’s Charity, cannot be installed in our courtyard this year, due to the current lockdown restrictions on non-essential travel, the Devonshire Square’s community is strongly committed to continuing supporting the charity at this crucial time.
By launching the Devonshire Square’s Virtual Easter Tree Fundraising Campaign, we would like to invite you all to purchase one less Easter egg this year and make a donation in aid of the Honeypot Children’s Charity instead, to help young carers during this time of crisis.
Donations can be made online through the Honeypot Children’s Charity’s official website: https://www.honeypot.org.uk/donate, quoting “Devonshire Square’s Virtual Easter Tree Appeal” when making the donation.
About the Honeypot Children’s Charity
The Honeypot Children’s Charity is the only charity in the UK that is solely dedicated to supporting young carers between 5-12 years and every year they support almost 2,500 young carers across the country.
Young carers are children who provide care and emotional support to a parent, a grandparent, or a sibling who is ill, disabled, suffers from a mental health conditions or substance abuse. Young carers experience high levels of stress and anxiety, severe social isolation, educational underachievement, low self-esteem, economic deprivation and a substantially higher level of bullying than in the general population of young children. The Honeypot enhanced service model aims to effectively meet these needs.
Children who benefit from the Honeypot Children’s Charity’s services are referred to the charity by a range of professional children’s welfare organisations to ensure that children with the greatest need are supported.
As the charity does not receive government funding, they rely entirely on donations and support from individuals, businesses, foundations and organisations to provide their services completely free to young carers in the UK.
About the Devonshire Square’s Easter Tree Appeal
Since 2015, Devonshire Square has been raising awareness on the Honeypot Children’s Charity by dedicating to the charity the Devonshire Square’s Easter Tree, a unique living tree decorated with hundreds of hand-painted eggs, created by the Devonshire Square’s Events Team and hosted annually in Devonshire Square’s Central Courtyard during the Easter festivity. Visitors to the installation were invited to donate online in aid of the charity. This year, due to Covid-19, the colourful tree cannot beautify our courtyard but our dedication to help the charity at this exceptionally challenging time is stronger than ever.
We would like to warmly thank you all for joining the Devonshire Square’s Virtual Easter Tree Appeal in aid of such a great cause and we wish you all a Happy Easter!
