Devonshire Square's Festival of Dance - Coronation Event

Thursday 27th APR

On Thursday 27th April, from 5.30pm to 8pm, Devonshire Square will be celebrating the imminent Coronation of King Charles III, by hosting in its Western Courtyard, a FREE-to-attend evening of dance that will take the attendees to a virtual journey from UK to South India, through the magical power of traditional dance and music.

Organised and curated by Devonshire Square Community & Events Management, the programme honours King Charles’ devotion to the arts, and includes the participation of several groups of outstandingly talented dancers specialising in various dance genres, ranging from folk to classical.

Rising étoiles currently performing with the Royal Ballet and professional ballerinas from renowned creative company JLee Productions will be presenting an exquisite performance, choreographed by former English National Ballet soloist and International Choreographer Jenna Lee, to music from The Nutcracker, one of King Charles’ favourite ballets.

Akademi South Asian Dance UK will present one of the oldest classical dance forms from South India, Bharatanatyam, and an enthralling Mohiniyattam performance – an ancient dance from Kerala – executed by world renowned artists from Upahaar School of Dance.

British Champion Bagpiper George Carney will be conjuring visions of the beautiful moors of Scotland, by introducing, with his hypnotic music, two uplifting Highland Dance performances, executed by a group of professional Scottish Highland dancers in stunning traditional costumes.

The Brooks Academy of Irish Dancing will be presenting two fabulous choreographies by some of the finest Irish dancers in the world, including multiple World Medal Holder Se O’ Toole and Great Britain Champion Eva Jane Moss.

Attendees will be treated to a complimentary tasting experience of delicious sweet canapés and savoury tartines by Devonshire Square’s iconic restaurants Devonshire Terrace and Cinnamon Kitchen, as well as a selection of irresistible complimentary cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, offered by pioneering social entertainment brand Lucky Voice, who recently opened a fantastic new venue at Devonshire Square.

To celebrate this special occasion, the Lucky Voice Team will also be distributing Golden Tickets, entitling guests to 2 hours free private karaoke room hire.

As part of Devonshire Square’s cultural programme, which supports important social causes through the power of the arts and the sports, attendees are warmly invited to donate in aid of the British Asian Trust, a charitable organisation founded by King Charles III in 2007 to tackle widespread poverty, inequality and injustice in South Asia.

The event is FREE to attend, however registration via Eventbrite is strictly required.
